BR&D is a multidisciplinary organization, focused on the development and commercialization of parenteral formulations of both small and large molecules such as monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic proteins, and peptides.

 

Positioned within the Business Solutions team, the Capital Projects Engineer is tasked with developing and implementing a cohesive strategy for the capital plan across the organization leveraging Lilly team members and external vendors.   

 

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for leading the strategy to develop and execute the BR&D capital plan across the organization.  This role will also oversee a process to ensure that adequate investments are made to the facility infrastructure to manage risk and ensure operational readiness.  Duties will require collaboration with the outsourced Facilities Management (FM) service providers, project managers and architecture and engineering firms.

  • Lead strategy to develop, network and prioritize BR&D capital plan across organization.
  • Provides hands on support and governance for local capital projects, ensuring compliance with local procedures and safety expectations.
  • Partner with LRL Capital Purchasing Team to facilitate purchasing and capitalization.
  • Provide coaching and guidance for capital project execution at BR&D sites outside of Indianapolis.
  • Partner with scientists and FUME equipment engineer to install and qualify equipment.
  • Develop and refine capital budget metrics. Communicate status updates to customers, capital representatives and leadership for each cost center.
  • Develop or incorporate existing tools to manage capital project planning, execution, tracking and forecasting.
  • Oversee process to assess condition of major facility and equipment assets to inform recapitalization strategy.
  • Actively participate in safety-related activities (audits, job safety analyses, hazard reviews, etc.) to drive ongoing safety improvement.
  • Coordinate maintenance and shutdown activities between multi-functional team (lab owners, operations, maintenance provider, etc.) to enable project completion
  • Interact with multiple laboratory groups and function as the business representative to define and execute facility renovation and lab equipment projects.
  • Develop technical knowledge of utility/equipment systems within responsibility of Business Solutions FUME Team. This includes an understanding of facility/equipment design, operation, qualification and maintenance strategies.
     

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in business management, engineering, construction, or related field
  • 5+ years of lab or manufacturing equipment, facility experience or demonstrated equivalency.
  • 2+ years of capital project management experience.

  • Typical schedule is standard business hours Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional extended-hour, after-hour, and shutdown support may be required.
  • This position is based in Indianapolis, IN and requires on-site support.
  • Minimal travel required.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$64,500 - $167,200

 


Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
