Description and Requirements

Healthfirst's 2025 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 2, 2025. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience, that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. Position Summary: The Provider Risk Analytics Intern in Finance will support the Provider Risk Analytics Team in performing functions that enable key business processes and practices. The Provider Risk Analytics Intern will contribute to a broad set of projects across the department.



Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of the Healthfirst overall business and risk model, with a focus on how to support provider organizations to improve financial performance and how value-based care can drive improved outcomes


  • Attend internal and external provider meetings to develop an understanding of how the Provider Risk Analytics work fits into the larger Healthfirst enterprise strategy


  • Perform analysis and data projects to begin to develop an understanding of how to monitor cost and revenue trends, use analytics and various types of healthcare data to identify improvement opportunities, and model and communicate impact to providers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs




  • Will not require sponsorship for employment


  • Eligible to work in the U.S.


  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs


  • Knowledge of SQL based applications and Tableau


  • Work experience with Microsoft Excel - create pivot tables, formatting, sorting, create spreadsheets with complex formulas such as v-look ups.


  • Self-motivated, creative problem solver who can work independently and collaborate through strong communication and interpersonal skills.


  • Experience managing projects


  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs


  • Knowledge of healthcare data (claims, diagnosis and procedure codes, etc.)

Hiring Range:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $39,208 - $52,000
  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $34,091 - $49,920

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.

In addition to your salary, Healthfirst offers employees a full range of benefits such as, medical, dental and vision coverage, incentive and recognition programs, life insurance, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hiring range is defined as the lowest and highest salaries that Healthfirst in "good faith" would pay to a new hire, or for a job promotion, or transfer into this role.
