Wastewater Facilities Maintenance Supervisor ID - 12884

Under direction, supervises and participates in the maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial motor controls, as well as mechanical and electrical equipment at the City's wastewater treatment facility, lift stations, storage facilities, and percolation ponds; coordinates assigned activities  with other divisions outside agencies, and the general public; ensures compliance with wastewater regulations and safety standards; and provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the MUED management team.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Qualifications

 

Experience:
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in the  maintenance, repair, and installation of industrial motor controls, mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as in the operation, maintenance, and construction of wastewater treatment facilities, life stations, storage facilities, and percolation ponds.  Experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is preferred.
Education:
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by relevant coursework or certification in engineering, wastewater technology, wastewater treatment, industrial maintenance or a related field. 
Licenses and Certificates:
  • Possession and maintenance of, or the ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment; and
  • California Water Environmental Association Mechanical Technologist, or other equivalent trade certification recognized by the California Department of Industrial Relations.
Special Requirements:
Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.  Ability to work outside.  Ability to travel to different sites and locations.  Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat,  climb, and lift 50 lbs.; exposure to extreme temperatures,  noise, outdoors, chemicals, explosive materials, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards. Ability to respond to emergency call-out situations and perform standby duty for emergency response after hours.

1. Proof of a California Water Environmental Association Mechanical Technologist, or other equivalent trade certification recognized by the California Department of Industrial Relations.

An applicant with a college degree obtained outside the United States must have education records evaluated by a credentials evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted by the application deadline.
